Personal Grooming Waiter and Barman

The waiter and the barman interact very closely with the guests. It is very important to create a very favorable impression on the guest by being presentable.

Personal Grooming and Hygiene

A guest who visits a hotel would naturally expect to be served in a neat and tidy environment. To present such an ambiance it is not alone enough that the hotel’s infrastructure is well maintained but should also be complimented y every member of the team by being presentable.

As the human interface of a restaurant/bar involved in the service of food and beverages, a waiter/barman should be well groomed and maintain a very high order of hygiene.

Aspects of grooming & hygiene

Grooming involves caring for and maintaining one’s physical appearance. It includes both personal and professional aspects. Personal grooming means taking care of one’s body or keeping it clean whereas professional grooming means getting appropriately dressed for your workplace.

Personal grooming mainly involves brushing your teeth, taking a shower, wearing clean clothes, avoiding body odor, etc. Professional grooming involves the aspects of personal grooming but apart from these, it lays stress on formal dressing, wearing coordinated clothes with appropriate accessories like leather belts, polished shoes, socks with proper elastic, etc.

Personal hygiene is the first step to good grooming and good health. Elementary cleanliness is common knowledge. Neglect causes problems that you may not even be aware of. Many people with bad breath are blissfully unaware of it. Some problems may not be your fault at all, but improving standards of hygiene will control these conditions. More often than you know, good looks are the result of careful and continuous grooming.

Some tips to improve your hygiene:

Hair

Wash your hair for at least a week using soap or mild shampoo. Ensure that it is odor and dandruff free.

Skin

Soap and wash water are essential for keeping the skin clean. A good bath once or twice a day is recommended.

Teeth

Brush your teeth twice every day and rinse well after every meal. Brushing before going to bed is quite important. Ensure that the tooth is free from any food particles and it does not result in a bad odor.

Hands

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after every meal and after visiting the toilet. Soaping and rinsing should cover the areas between the fingers, nails, and back of the hand. Hands should be dried with a clean towel after wash.
